It’s my birthday today and of course everyone wanted to see Loki. Had to keep him away from the birthday cake!

I took my hedgie Oswald to the vet today, and he has wobbly hedgehog syndrome. the breeder failed to inform me about this then i got Oswald. The vet said he probably wont live past 18 months (he is 7 months old, so he will most likely pass away within the next year.) i am so upset and extremely mad.

Oh no, I’m sorry to hear that :( He’s really young, are you sure it’s WHS? It usually shows up when they’re a bit older, but it can happen with younger hogs too. There are a couple of other things with similar symptoms and not all vets are specialized in hedgehogs - not sure if yours is. I hope he’ll have a good life as long as it’s possible! It’s such a horrible disease.
Since WHS develops slowly, the breeder probably didn’t know he had WHS when you got him.

I’m sorry for the lack of new pictures yesterday and probably the next couple of days, but my pony (not really mine, I wasn’t the owner - but I’ve been taking care of her since I was 10 years old) had to be put to sleep yesterday. I will miss her a lot, she was very special to me.

I recently rescued a hedgehog who was barely handled. I tried easing him into it, but he bit me and now I'm a little skittish about it. Should I keep trying or let him be a huffy butt?

Keep trying! It can take months, especially if they aren’t used to handling. So don’t give up yet, try to spend a lot of time together and see how it goes. Good luck!

He does make a lot of different sounds, I think the sound he makes before he falls asleep on my lap is cute but it’s hard to record. Bit of a smacking his lips/clicking sound. He does it when he’s content and sleepy.
You can hear some lip smacking here:

This was recorded when he just woke up being all grumpy, so you can hear his grumpy huffing as well.

He purrs sometimes when he’s really happy, but I’ve never managed to record that… I do have a recording of this weird noise he makes in his sleep sometimes:

Hope this answered your question, not sure what qualifies as a cute/frightening noise - I wish I could record more sounds but they’re hard to record!

Low fat/high protein cat food. He’s quite picky, but he loves insects as well! Beetles are his favourite.

Where did you get your snuggle sacks from? The breeder I'm getting my hedgie from only sells sugar glider sacks with strings and that doesn't seem too safe for a hedgehog!
